SENSE OF SELF
2021 Daily Practice- October
As I become more in tune with my feelings and emotions, I've often found that my sense of self feels separate from my body. I am a highly happy presenting person-- often wearing many colors, always flashing a smile to strangers on the street-- yet sometimes my inner self feels disconnected from this as my moods change rapidly and I'm not always as happy on the inside as I may appear to others.
I wanted to document my moods and these changes with daily self portraits, however I would not be looking at the paper while drawing, just at my own reflection, looking into my eyes finding myself behind the aura of color I present to the world. When I don’t watch my hand draw, the result is something of a lopsided disproportionate mess, which I've found accurately depicts this feeling of disconnection.
